There are 9 different ways to pronounce the letter combination "ough" and all are contained in the above sentence.
There is yet a 10th pronounciation - "yock" as in "Youghiogheny" - an Indian word meaning "a rough or dare-devil stream".

The Youghiogheny Trail runs from McKeesport to Cumberland, MD. This page treats the section from Little Boston to Cedar Creek State Park. At this end of the river - close to it's mouth into the Monongahela - the Yough is not a wild and crazy river: that happens further upstream in Ohiopyle. Here it is wide and slow flowing; a good river for boating and fishing and beautiful to look at as one bikes along.

The trail follows the river closely along this stretch. It is on the bed of a former railroad (The Pittsburgh, McKeesport, & Youghiogheny RR) that served the numerous small hamlets along the river, and is a 10' wide trail of packed limestone. There are numerous rest stops and facilities along the trail, which are listed on this page.
