Laurie Nelson

Laurie is an oil painter who lives and works in the Washington DC area. Her contemporary style is often musically inspired and is enhanced by organic forms.

As in nature, there are few straight lines in her work, which appears in private and public collections both in the United States and abroad.

As a result of her first career in opera, Laurie Nelson?s painting career began upside down. Her home gallery is open to the DC arts community and paintings often sell directly from her studio walls. Her first exhibition experiences were performance art credits at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington DC, and in keeping with the backward progression, her first painting exhibition was a solo show titled Song Cycle.

Song Cycle was succeeded by various nationally juried and regionally juried exhibits of her work. Laurie Nelson continues to explore new directions artistically, and maintains an active exhibit schedule.
