LALO SUPPORTS NAACP CHAPTER FREEDOM FUND DINNER
The Warren-Page County Chapter of the NAACP #7125 is holding its 60th annual dinner and event on September 23, 2017, at the Holiday Inn, Route 522, Front Royal, VA.
This year’s event is chaired by LALO’s own Founder and Chief Curator, Bryane Lickson. She has pulled together the speaker, the place and a selection of art for the celebration of NAACP progress and the growth of the local chapter. Working with NAACP Chapter President Alford “AD” Carter, Bryane expects a large crowd of members and supporters to be present for an important evening of talk, fellowship and good food.
The featured speaker for the September 23 event is Glenda F. Hodges, PhD, JD, M.Div and Founder of Still I Rise, Inc. of Clinton, Maryland. Dr. Hodges is expected to talk about the good work of her organization and the wonderful, yet delicate times we have had in this country since Charlottesville and related events. Still I Rise, Inc. is an organization which helps victims of domestic violence, engages in civil rights advocacy and helps fight human trafficking.
“We have gathered many pieces of great art to show at the event ”, said Bryane. She points out that art knows no race, no nationality, no creed, – only a visage which is comfortable to behold by the viewer. “In many ways, art is the perfect way for artists of all backgrounds to express themselves – whether they appeal to themselves, a small group or the masses”, she added.
The festivities on September 23 begin at 5:15PM with a social time until 6PM when the Banquet and evening program begins. Tickets are $55 each.
LALO (Let Art Live On) appreciates the opportunity for member artists from a variety of backgrounds to have their work exhibited. LALO also takes the opportunity to show off some art from its new project, “Buy Art, Fight Poverty” (www.buyartfightpoverty.org) which it is administering for A Future Without Poverty, Inc., an internationally recognized not for profit company (www.fwop.org). While there will only be room for a small group of art at the Holiday Inn program, Bryane assures everyone that all the art is good and each piece has been selected by her for this special event.
